My Journey into IT and Cyber Security
I grew up in the small beach town of Margate and completed my schooling at Port Shepstone High School before relocating to Durban, where my IT career took its first steps. From a young age, I was driven by a natural curiosity to understand how things worked—whether it was figuring out the inner mechanics of devices, finding ways to improve and secure them, or challenging myself to break and fix them again.
As I began my career in IT, I quickly developed a strong passion for cyber security. The thrill of penetration testing—trying to break into systems and assess vulnerabilities—fueled my desire to specialize in the field. However, I soon recognized that to be truly effective in cyber security, I needed a solid foundation in general IT. This realization led me to expand my expertise beyond security to encompass broader IT systems, networks, and technologies. By gaining experience across a variety of IT domains, I have been able to evolve into a more well-rounded and capable professional, constantly striving to stay ahead of the curve in a fast-changing technological landscape.
